About Us

The Quays Nursery is part of our group of six nurseries, all sharing the same vision, educational ethos and approach to working with children and families.

Our strongest belief is that we best meet the needs of parents, children and our team by listening to what they have to say about nursery. You will have many opportunities to tell us what you think and where we can improve right from the start. From the settling in process all the way through nursery to the day your child leaves us, happy, confident, and extremely well prepared to start school.

We listen to our team regularly too through staff forums, team building events, appraisals, awards and family events as well as having a culture of open dialogue and discussion. We know this promotes a positive attitude to work and ensures everyone shares our vision and values and helps each other to do the very best they can for all of our children and families.

A sound understanding of what young children need to do well in their early years and beyond underpins every decision we make about running the nursery, from appointing senior managers and teachers to deciding which resources to buy or how to best share information about children’s development and well-being.

My role is very much about facilitating our teams to deliver the best in early years care and education. Working closely with Emma Jones, we are constantly on-hand to support Alison and her team. Being in regular contact and visiting often means I know the many fantastic opportunities provided at nursery for children and the close relationships our staff have developed with our families at The Quays.

Working closely with Julie, we ensure that Nicola has everything she needs to deliver first class childcare in a beautiful learning environment with an outstanding team of practitioners. My teaching and leadership experience means I can provide mentoring and guidance to support Alison to continue to meet all the requirements of her role.

BA (Hons) in Primary Education with Early Years Specialism

I have gained great experience working with all age ranges and have worked at The Quays with our older toddlers as their Room Supervisor. I firmly believe that the explorative learning and creative freedom children experience during nursery lays the foundation for a positive and successful relationship with learning as they grow up. Children learn best when they feel safe and supported. I like to frequently communicate with parents on their child’s progress and interests to strengthen the collaborative process. I thoroughly enjoy making children smile and helping them to achieve!

Level 4 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development. Working towards Level 5

As Quality and Relationship Manager at the Quays I work very closely with Alison. We share the same vision to ensure the children and families are the centre of everything that we do. I also support our staff team on a day to day basis.

I have worked at the Quays since 1998 and am very proud to be a part of such an amazing team who are so passionate about Early Years. I love seeing this in their day to day practice.

I have a hands on approach working closely with children and families. I thoroughly enjoy this part of my role, from meeting new families and making those strong links to making myself available to families whenever necessary.

Level 3 Children’s Care, Learning and Development

I thoroughly enjoy my role here at The Quays. As children's first educators we actively support and encourage parent relationships. We hold regular meetings with parents, as well as in depth daily feedback to ensure that you are always involved in your child’s time at nursery. My team and I ensure that all activities and learning opportunities we plan are focused around each individual child.

I joined The Quays in 1999 and have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience working with children under the age of 2. I enjoy every aspect of my job, especially building strong partnerships with parents. I understand how difficult it can be for parents to leave their children in nursery so my team and I actively strive to develop our relationships with our parents.

Paula, Pre-school Joint Room Supervisor

Level 4 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development

I have worked at The Quays since 2003 and I’m currently the joint Room Supervisor in Pre-school. I work closely with Kim and the other practitioners in our team to provide lots of exciting learning opportunities for our children. It’s so important to me that my team builds a great rapport with our parents, as I believe parents are their child’s first and most enduring educators.

I work alongside Paula and have worked at The Quays since 2004. I thoroughly enjoy my role. We work closely with our parents to ensure that their children’s development is promoted through their individual likes and dislikes. We have formed close partnerships with the surrounding primary schools and work closely with them to help ensure that our children have smooth transitions to school.

Level 3 Early Years

I am very passionate about my role and enjoy watching how children grow and develop around me. I have over 10 years experience working with children aged 2 to 3 years old, which has given me a great insight and understanding of this age group. I am very enthusiastic about my role and like to be involved in all children’s play and learning, ensuring all of their needs and likes are met.

Level 3 in Early Years

I have worked at The Quays since 2004, and have worked with toddlers for over 6 years. Working with this age group is great, particularly seeing the children start to develop their own individual personalities, which makes them all unique. As a mother myself I feel I can relate to parents and understand the concerns that may arise from leaving their child in other people’s care.

As the Pre-school Room Senior I work closely with Paula and Kim to offer a stimulating, play based learning environment for the children to explore and learn in. I am very enthusiastic about my role and get a lot of joy from watching the children grow and develop, from when they first start in Pre-school until they leave for school.

Cheryl Wadsworth, Baby Room Senior

Level 3 Children’s Care, Learning and Development

I began my career at The Quays in 2011. I have worked in all rooms within the nursery and am now based in the Baby Room as the Room Senior. I am passionate about building strong relationships with all of the parents and children in my care. I like to observe the children as they play and enjoy seeing them grow and develop in all areas of their learning.

Level 2 Food Production

As the nursery chef at The Quays, I am responsible for ensuring that the children are given healthy, nutritional meals during the day. I work closely with Wendy, our Meals and Nutrition Co-ordinator, to implement new meal ideas for the children. I thoroughly enjoy spending time in the rooms, cooking with the children and talking to them about making healthy choices.

Katie Bryers, Nursery Administrator

I have over 10 years experience working as an administrator and absolutely love working with the staff and children here at The Quays. I deal with invoices, generating reports and liaising with parents on a daily basis regarding any questions or queries they may have. Working at The Quays is an absolute delight and I love seeing how happy the children are playing in such a happy environment.
